Hershey Park announces new coaster for 2012!

Intamin AG of Switzerland brings us yet another awesome looking ride for Hershey Park, Skyrush! The 200 foot hyper coaster will feature new trains with 4 across seating where the two outside seats are floorless, and the two inside seats aren’t! The trains look a lot like the Wingrider trains and Furious Baco in Spain, only with only 2 seats being floorless. The ride its self will be 200 feet tall and reach speeds up too 75 mph! The layout look like a very good mix of quick turns and airtime hills, a lot like Formula Rossa, only taken at a much faster speed! For a press release and a video, check the links below!

Cedarfair Announces the Purchase of 61 Acres of Land for Carowinds!

Today, August 1, 2011, Cedar Fair announced the purchase of 61 acres of land for Carowinds in Charlotte, NC. (Carowinds is actually on the boarder of both North and South Carolina). The plot of land is adjacent to the park which means we might be seeing something big over at Carowinds. I don’t think we will be seeing something on that for 2012 considering that they just bought the land and the park just got a giant new B&M hyper coaster. But then again, that didn’t stop KD from getting I305 two years after they Dominator. But we’ll just have to wait and see!

2010 Steel Coaster pull results!!

So, Mitch hawkers 2010 steel poll is out and it looks like this is Intamins year with 8/10 of the coasters in the top 10 being Intamins! Speaking of Intamin, Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion is in the number 3 spot so it looked like the complainers didn’t interfere with the rides rankings to much. At the number 1 spot is Bizzaro at SF New England, fallowed by Exposition G-Force at Holiday Park. Ispeed at Mirabilandia really jumped ahead from the number 36 spot, to the number 10 spot.  You can look at the complete poll here:

Holiday World to once again delay Timber liners for the Voyage

Holiday World( located in Santa Claus Indiana) is home to the Voyage, a very large Gravity Group wooden roller coaster which is said to be one of the best wooden roller coasters in the world. In 2010 was going to get Gravity Kraft(which is Gravity Groups new train company) Timber Liners to replace the old PTC’s for late 2010. But the traina had some problems which delayed its opening with them until 2011. But they have now delayed them untill 2012. Holiday worlds Paula wrote

“The Timberliner models tested here in 2010 will be upgraded after similar models are used at other parks this season. Because of the extreme speeds and forces on The Voyage, we feel it is better to wait until there has been a full season of Timberliner-use elsewhere (on less extreme coasters which were designed with Timberliners in mind). GravityKraft will then refurbish our trains so that we’ll have the most up-to-date models.

We intend to introduce Voyage’s Timberliner trains at the start of the 2012 season.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Paula”

So it looks like we will have to wait a little more to see new trains one the Voyage. But will will see them soon on Twister, Wooden Warrior, and the new racing coaster in China!
